11+ Creative Writing for Exams

Intensive Course

Is your child sitting an 11+ creative writing exam to an independent or grammar school in 2023?

This course is for children applying to independent and grammar schools in 2023.

Over 5 sessions of two hours, your child will learn how to identify exactly what is required for each creative writing question type and how to write to the required standard.

Your child will study the text features and language skills (figurative language, sensory description, sentence structure and punctuation) needed for each type of writing task.

Timed answers will be marked at 11+ level with brief examiner’s report so that you have an accurate idea of your child’s strengths and weaknesses.

Over the 5 morning sessions, we will study:

narrative writing
continuing a story
formal persuasive letter
descriptive writing based on a picture/written prompt
discursive writing
personal recount

This course comprises:

5 sessions of 2 hours (with a 15 minute break
writing tasks to be submitted for detailed marking
end-of-term examiner’s report so that you have an accurate idea of your child’s strengths and weaknesses.
