This reading comprehension club for Year 4 aims to boost your child’s reading skills and vocabulary knowledge. This year is an important time to lay the foundations for developing strong reading and writing skills as well as acquiring a solid foundation in vocabulary.
The course runs throughout the academic year 2023-2024 over three terms.
Throughout the course, your child will study a variety of contemporary and classic fiction, non-fiction and poetry.
Using a variety of short reading texts, your child will learn how:
- to retrieve information
- draw inferences
- make predictions
- identify and summarise ideas
- analyse language and structure
- expand vocabulary
- produce written answers
